NAPPS commends Wike on review of registration of Schools

The leadership of the  National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Rivers State Chapter, has commended the state governor, Chief  Nyesom Wike,  for reviewing the previous criteria issued for registration of schools.

Speaking to Africa Update, at the Association’s secretariat in Port Harcourt, the State President,  Chief Victor A.D Green,  (KSC), Jp, said though no deadline was given by government for the  registration of schools in the state,  government is insisting that all schools must be registered.

He stated that the Leadership of NAPPS had met with the state government to plead for a reconsideration of the earlier stated conditions for registration,  disclosing that their request was granted and the minimum requirement was reviewed.

Reiterating that the September 1, 2017 deadline still subsist,  but schools with sufficient proof to show that they are  making an effort to provide the facilities requested by government, would be given a year provisional approval.

He warned that schools who do not have the mandatory minimum size of one and half plot for provisional basis and 4 to 5 plots including a football field and others, after one year of receiving the provisional approval will be shutdown.

He urged members to take advantage of this opportunity and invite the inspectorate at the State Ministry of Education for necessary inspection and approval.
