The Gabonese Government has signed an agreement with Nigerian energy infrastructure company, Oilserv Limited, for the development and commercialisation of hydrocarbon reserves in two blocks in the country.

Oilserv disclosed the development in a statement published on its website, saying the Agreement Protocol covers the DEF-3 and D4-5 blocks in the Gabonese Republic.

The agreement establishes a framework for the development and commercialisation of the hydrocarbon resources in the two blocks, while also providing for the development of gas transportation, compression and treatment infrastructure.

According to Oilserv, the infrastructure is expected to support thermal power generation and industrial activities in Gabon, linking the upstream development of the blocks with the country’s broader energy and industrial requirements.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Gabonese State by the Minister of Petroleum and Gas, Clotaire Kondja, while Oilserv was represented by its Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Dr Emeka Okwuosa, CON.

Oilserv described the agreement as a significant step in its efforts to expand its energy infrastructure activities across Africa.

The company said the partnership with the Gabonese State reinforced its position as an African energy infrastructure and solutions provider.

The development adds to growing efforts by Nigerian energy companies to expand their operations and investments beyond Nigeria into other African markets.

Nigerian businesses have increasingly pursued opportunities across the continent in areas including oil exploration, refining, gas infrastructure and energy development.

In April 2026, for instance, Sierra Leone entered into a $225 million offshore oil exploration and production agreement with Nigeria-based Marginal Energy Limited, covering exploration and production activities as the country sought to revive its upstream petroleum sector.

The Oilserv-Gabon agreement, however, focuses on the development and commercialisation of hydrocarbon reserves in the DEF-3 and D4-5 blocks, alongside associated gas infrastructure.

The agreement highlights the growing involvement of Nigerian energy companies in the development of Africa’s petroleum and energy infrastructure, as countries across the continent seek investment and technical partnerships to unlock their hydrocarbon resources and strengthen domestic energy supply.
