… pledges commitment to Renewed Hope Agenda

Chairman of Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission ( NUPRC), Senator Magnus Ngei Abe says he and members of the newly inaugurated board of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission will do their best to serve the country and ensure that the oil sector lives up to its bidding.

Abe spoke at a reception organized in his honour by the Leader of the Renewed Hope Family in Rivers state, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory( FCT), on Tuesday in Abuja after the inauguration.

He stated that his continued commitment and support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Family is not a misplaced priority but a decision to follow a visionary leader who is determined to leave Nigeria better than he met it.

Senator Abe said: “I want to thank the Almighty God for the opportunity and privilege given me to serve our country once again and to thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in me and members of the board to serve in this capacity.

“ We will do our best to serve Nigeria and to say to Nigerians that our support for President Tinubu is not a misplaced priority. I am a member of the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers state and the Renewed Hope Family.

The former member of the NNPC board as well as chairman, Senate Committee on Upstream and Downstream at the 8th National Assembly congratulated all members of the board on the historic opportunity to serve Nigeria and said: “when you are in power, do that thing that you think is right. It is not when you leave office, all of a sudden, you now want to redo everything you didn’t do. This is the time to work and we will work.

“If you want to build roads, build them. If you want to help people, help them when you have the opportunity. It is not when you have left the office, you suddenly realized that everything is wrong.

“Fellow Nigerians, I say to you very, very soundly, don’t lose sleep over what people who have left office are doing. We know what they did when they were in office. I will stand with the Rainbow Coalition and I will stand with our leader, Chief Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory( FCT), and leader of the Rivers politics.

“Let me use this opportunity to appeal to Rivers people that democracy is not only the one that you have been taught by the Oyibo people. We can redefine our democracy in a way that works for our people. At the end of the day, every political grouping will be judged by what they are able to deliver to the people”.

Earlier, in his speech at the NUPRC’s office in Abuja after the inauguration, Senator Abe assured the management of the commission, of the board’s preparedness and commitment to meet the expectations of the government and people of Nigeria.

Abe said: “We are here to assure you all and assure Nigerians that we are going to do our best to work with the management inorder to meet the expectations not just of the commission or the government but to ensure that the value we expect from the Petroleum Industry Act ( PIA) is delivered through working together”.
