Barely 24-hours after an ambush of checkpoints along the Owerri-Port Harcourt expressway, that led to the death of 8 security operatives comprising Customs Officers, military personnel and policemen, about 5 military personnel have been killed in a community in Abua/ Odual local government area of Rivers State.
Africa Update was unable to get further details on the attack, which has sent cold shivers down the spines of Rivers people. A cross section of individuals who spoke with Africa Update, are speculating that the attackers might have links with the IPOB or Boko Haram. The Governor of the State, Nyesom Wike, while commiserating with families of victims of Saturday’s attack in an earlier statement, assured residents of the state of proactive actions to fish out perpetrators of the dastardly and callous attack.
