Rivers M.W.A.N Take Cancer Awareness Campaign To Markets

Members of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (M.W.A.N), Rivers State Chapter, today, took the campaign on breast and cervical cancer awareness to the markets in Port Harcourt.

The president of the Rivers State chapter of the association, Dr. Vetty Agala said the aim of taking the campaign to the market is to sensitize women on the need to take care of their breast. She said most times, market women after the days stress fail to attend to the symptoms from their body.

In her words: “Today we were raising health awareness on breast cancer, not only breast cancer, we also talked about cervical cancer and prostrate cancer because these are the commonest cancers that are killing our men and women.

” We recognized that women are the rearers, the bearers and the carers in the society. You saw them at the market, you saw a lot of women working so hard. So, we can’t afford to have them ill. We can’t afford to have them die. If they die who will raise their children”?

DR. Vetty also added that, the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria can be accessed anytime at their center; Lane 1, block 3, flat 3, Marine base Estate or the Churchill Health care center, Model Primary Health Center for clinical examinations.

At the creek road market, a huge crowd of women welcomed the sensitization work by Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria. They thanked them and promised to share the knowledge with other women.
