Updated: Gunmen abduct 8 along Kula waterways in Rivers State

The whereabout of five members of Maritime Workers Union and three others is a source of concern to many following an ambush by some gunmen along the Kula waterways in Akuku Toru Local Government Area in Rivers State.

Africa Update gathered that the gunmen had reportedly stopped the boat conveying the oil workers who were on their way to Port Harcourt, the State Capital for a crucial meeting of the Union on Monday, when the incident occurred. They were whisked away in the early hours of Monday and nothing has been heard about them afterwards.

In a related development two members of Trade Union Congress, TUC, are still missing after their abduction along the Soku waterways in Akuku Toru LGA, by unidentified gunmen about two weeks ago.
