Man Allegedly Stabbed to Death by Second Wife Two Months After Wedding

A 45-year-old man, identified as Auwalu Adamu, has reportedly died after he was allegedly stabbed by his newly wedded second wife, Khadija Sulaiman, in Hayin Lawali community of Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

The tragic incident is said to have occurred on Sunday following a heated argument between the couple at their residence, barely two months after their marriage.

Residents of the community disclosed that the relationship had been marked by persistent disagreements since the wedding, with frequent quarrels that often escalated into public confrontations.

A neighbour, who requested anonymity, recounted the moments following the alleged attack, describing a scene of panic and confusion as the victim emerged from the house with a severe injury.

“He ran out of the house with blood dripping from the knife wound to his neck. It appeared he tried to stop the bleeding with a piece of cloth, but by the time we got to him, he had fallen to his knees and could no longer speak. He later died there,” the neighbour said.

Another resident noted that the couple’s recurring disputes had become a source of concern among members of the community, who had observed tensions in the marriage from its early stages.

Commenting on the incident, the head of a local community security group, Nazifi Abdullahi, alleged that the suspect attempted to flee after the stabbing but was prevented from doing so by residents.

“It hasn’t been up to two months since their wedding, and she was his second wife. Suddenly, we heard he ran out of his house with a knife wound and collapsed mumbling,” Abdullahi said.

“The wife was responsible for the stabbing. The wife tried to escape, but female neighbours who witnessed the incident apprehended and restrained her until the police arrived.”

According to community members, neighbours quickly intervened after the incident and alerted security operatives, who subsequently took the suspect into custody.

The circumstances surrounding the altercation remain unclear, and authorities are expected to conduct a full investigation to determine the events that led to the fatal confrontation.

As of the time of filing this report on Tuesday, the Kano State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

The case has, however, generated widespread concern within the community, with residents expressing shock over the death and calling for a thorough investigation to establish the facts and ensure justice is served.

Police authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations progress.
