The APC in a crises of unmet expectations

For three years now, I have watched the APC dug very deep into its foundation, with the intent of uprooting it’s own house. By disqualifying Gov. Obaseki for obnoxious reasons of forgery, the party shot itself on the foot as an admission to have fielded an unqualified candidate in the previous election. This self destructive ability of the APC is led by it’s own national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinibu and the national chairman, Adam’s Oshimole puts in context a flagrant abuse of thrust, disregard for members of the party and certainly the arrogance of power, but they are not alone in the party’s spurgeon to misery. An attempt to situate the blame will definitely indict the conscience of some so called leaders of the party in almost all the states as these men, whom mostly defected from the PDP during the formative years are intolerant of internal democracy.

The culture of supremacy which is the power drawn from the electorates within the party is often superimposed with the iron fisted decision of some party elders who also follow the dictates of the state leader. This has grown to an unbearable limit and it accounts for why the party has lost ground, unable to even present candidates for elections in many states, Rivers, Zamfara etc. I have no doubt that the leadership of the party care less about the situation ,so long as it serves the vindictive purpose of some elements on their hate list within the party. They also care less because the President himself care less as well. President Buhari is the most self serving APC member who had no problem campaigning for his reelection in states like Rivers where his party had no candidate in the elections. Under his watch, his party shrank while the man isolated himself in his alternate reality of non interference. He claimed to be governing, but the country is becoming worse than he met it. The vague promises of change was a mere campaign slogan which many Nigerians fell for though I never really expected much from him. Buhari’s declaration of same number of cows and other stuff every election year was an attestation of a stagnant man who was unable to advance his own life beyond where it was since he left office in 1985. How best did we expect a man who was unable to advance his own life do miracles for us. All the same, Jonathan was his biggest campaign manager and enabler; the insecurity and corruption which were the cornerstone of his campaign in 2015 have found deeper roots today. If governance is to sell oil, borrow money to build infrastructure and keep mute when your voice is desperately needed, anybody can do the job of a President.

I am a Nigerian first before I became a member of the APC, and I do not subscribe to the conspiracy of silence in the face of obvious failure. We all have equal stakes as members of the APC, but for some reasons, some animals are more equal than othere. I have always maintained that political parties are the new slave masters of this generation, people are suffering yet smiling whenever their impatient masters offer them a gesture of closeness, they sing praises and glorify them as gods while they go home gnashing their tooth in pain. You can become free by speaking up and breaking from this shackle. While we sit and hope that things will be sorted out, I dear you to differ as the APC is headed for Gustav point. It’s time for the youths of this party to rise up as the time has come for active non compliance. Masi Prince Ernest (MNSE) (MNIEEE)
