Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, has charged civil servants in the state to be stewards of the manifold blessings of God.
Nsirim, made the call at the 2021 Civil Service Thanksgiving/Dedication Service in Port Harcourt, last Friday.
The service, which held at the Ministry of Justice Conference Hall, Port Harcourt, had as its theme: “In Times Like These”.
The commissioner, who was the chairman of the occasion, said: “It is important we understand that there is a God that is in charge of the affairs of man”.
Nsirim expressed the hope that with the service, Rivers State would witness tremendous growth and development to the glory of God.
Also speaking, the state Head of Service, Barrister Rufus Godwins, said events around the world have underscored the service, attended by permanent secretaries as the need for people, especially civil servants to draw closer to God.
Godwins, who said the Covid-19 pandemic and other events across the world, were a fulfilment of prophesies, added that time has come for civil servants to humble and rededicate their lives to the instruction of the Lord.
Speaking on the theme of the service, “In Times Like These”, Pastor Peter Emeka Wobisike, said God, sometimes, uses periods of adversity to draw people closer to Himself.
Wobisike, who was a former permanent secretary in the state civil service, called on civil servants to put their confidence and trust in God, while waiting for His appointed time.
The service was attended by permanent secretaries and directors.
