The Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has been bereaved following the death of his mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi, who passed away at the age of 89.
According to a statement issued by the Amaechi Media Office on Friday, the family matriarch died peacefully on Thursday, 16 July 2026.
The statement described the late Mrs. Amaechi as a devoted mother and respected community leader whose life was marked by unwavering faith, compassion and selfless service to humanity.
It noted that she was widely admired as a community women’s leader and committed Christian, whose steadfast belief in God and dedication to promoting peace and unity earned her the respect and admiration of many within and beyond her community.
“Late Mrs. Mary Amaechi was a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace and unity. She was a community women’s leader and Christian leader whose belief and faith in God were firm and resolute,” the statement said.
The family further described her as a woman of exceptional warmth and kindness who touched many lives through her generosity, unwavering support and commitment to the wellbeing of others.
“She was loved and highly respected in her community and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and unwavering support for those around her and beyond,” the statement added.
The Amaechi family also expressed profound appreciation for the outpouring of sympathy, prayers and messages of condolence received from friends, associates and well-wishers since the announcement of her passing.
“Rt. Hon. Amaechi and the entire family are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of condolences and love already being shown them during this difficult time,” the statement read.
The family disclosed that funeral arrangements for the late Mrs. Mary Amaechi would be announced in due course and appealed for continued prayers and support as they mourn the loss of their beloved matriarch.
