Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder Arrest Sea pirate, rescues 4 Immigration officers in Rivers

During the early hours of today a joint task force of officers from the Nigerian Navy ship (NNS) Pathfinder raided a suspected militant camp along Bille waterways and successfully rescued 4 immigration officers, recovering various weapons such as: pump action, local guns, 7.62mm ammunition , hammers, cutters and mobile phones.

The Executive Officer of NNS, Pathfinder, Capt. Adegoke Ebo also announced the arrest of a suspected kidnapper who has been terrorizing the Bile waterways.

“Following the rise in reported cases of kidnapping as well as sea robberies particularly around Bile, Andoni and Bonny waterways. Nigerian Navy Sheep Pathfinder arrested a Mr. James a notoriously popularly known as Blacky he was arrested at Choba.

During investigations, he confessed to have engaged in criminal activities such as murder, kidnapping and sea robberies also disclosing the identities of members, activities and his gang’s mode of operations.

Capt. Adegoke Ebo also said they arrested another sea pirate.

One of the rescued immigration officers described their ordeal at the hands of the kidnappers before they were rescued by the Nigerian Navy Pathfinder.

” We were paraded around the sea for about 8 or 10 hrs before arriving at the kidnappers camp ,I thank God for sending the officers of Nigerian Navy to our rescue. They came this morning as at 8am  to rescue us from the hut where they[kidnappers] kept us.

“We heard some heavy gun shots at a point we had to go down as trained officers ,then at some point  we saw  some  Navy personnels with some gadgets[radio] ; so we had to call out for help and they came to our rescue”.

The Comptroller of Navy in charge of the Rivers Marine Command, Comptroller Elizabeth Enunch thanked the Nigerian Navy for their prompt response towards the rescue of the immigration officers

” I want to say I’m very impressed for the prompt and proactive response we received from the Nigerian Navy that has resulted in the rescue operation of the Immigration officers unharmed.

On behalf of my Comptroller General Mohammed Babandede MFR , we want to sincerely appreciate the  Nigerian Navy for what they have done for the Nigerian Immigration Service”
