Sen. Abe and his pseudo peace move in the APC

“THE ONLY VICE THAT CANNOT BE FORGIVEN IS HYPOCRISY. THE REPENTANCE OF A HYPOCRITE IS ITSELF HYPOCRISY.

–William Hazlitt–

Remember Sen Magnus Ngei Abe? He is the man who once declared with celestial triumph that his 2019 governorship ambition had secured divine endorsement.
But unfortunately, the man who identifies with Ogoni when he chooses, was not discerning enough, so he interpreted his purported divine favour to mean an Ogoni governor when there is neither an Ogoni State nor an Ogoni political party.

I worry about shortsighted politicians with such false claims as divine mandate. I can never doubt God, but it is pretty obvious that even a man who has a bout of malaria can also see visions and dream dreams.

Abe went about his political ambition on the wrong track and in bad fate, defying all known party protocols. After acting a spoiler’s script to the perils of the party, he has suddenly realised that he was fighting an unwinnable political war, and has now volte faced with a pseudo peace initiative probably to have soft landing and return to the Senate for the third term on the APC ticket.

If Abe’s plan B is to return to the Senate for the third term on the APC ticket, after all he did that cost the party great fortunes that led to the defection of scores of APC members to the PDP in Rivers State, then he mistook the voice and nod of a deity for that of God.

Is Abe’s peace move genuine? If the answer to this billion naira poser is Yes! Tell it to the marine. It is disingenuous for those who created a problem to now adopt a magisterial posture and pretend to dispense wise counsel.

For Abe and his co-travellers, the best way to go is to tender an unreserved public apology to our leader, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the Rivers State chapter of the APC.
Subsequently, he should rejoin the queue of faithful APC members and wait patiently for a democratic process that would produce an authentic gubernatorial candidate for the Rivers State APC in the 2019 election.
