Melaye damaged two Police van in an attempt to escape arrest

A witness in an FCT High Court in Apo, Abuja claimed that Melaye, while attempting to escape arrest by some policemen, damaged two of their vehicles
Upon the plea of the prosecution council, Jovi Oghojafor, the case was adjourned to May 16, May 27 and May 28
According to a prosecution witness on Friday, April 5, in a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Apo, Abuja, Senator Dino Melaye damaged two police patrol vans in an alleged attempt to escape from custody.
The testimony was given by ASP Dennis Agbi, who is a member of the IGP Special Tactical Squad, during a court hearing after a lawsuit filed against Melaye, who is facing trial on a six-count charge.

One of the police patrol vans allegedly damaged by Senator Dino Melaye, Agbi claimed that in April 2018, a Toyota Hilux with Registration No. MKA 603 GY, was brought for him to record as exhibit and upon inspection he observed that right headlight of the van and part of the vehicle bumper were damaged.
He said that tagged the Hilux as exhibit NO. CER/STS/11/2018A in his records.
Agbi said that the second vehicle was a white Hiace bus with a broken front right side mirror as well as the left side back window glass.
Although the prosecution counsel, Jovi Oghojafor, said that the Certified
True Copy of the records of exhibit was not available, after the inspection of the vehicles by the judge, they were admitted and marked as exhibits.
Oghojafor therefore requested for an adjournment so as to secure time to provide it, upon which Justice Silvanus Oriji adjourned the case until May 16, May 27 and May 28.
Melaye was on Tuesday, March 5, arraigned by the police at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) high court, Apo area of Abuja on a six-count charge, part of which was attempting to take his own life.
In another part of the charges, Senator Melaye was accused of attempting to escape from custody.
Melaye, who recently won another opportunity to represents Kogi West senatorial district, was alleged to have damaged police property.
