Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, has commended the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Mini Okoro, CSP Ekaette Achibong, for smashing a notorious car snatching syndicate.
Addressing newsmen, Omoni, identified the suspects as ; Ibrahim Usman from Bauchi State, Mohammed Adamu from Niger State, Victor James from Emuoha community in Rivers State and Barnabas Wahala from Bauchi State.
He said the suspects who are resident in Rivers State, on interrogation, made confessions which led to the recovery of three vehicles; Toyota land cruiser Jeep with registration number AH 369 DEG, Toyota Camry pencil light with registration number YAP 143.
He stated that, ‘The recovered Lexus Jeep is said to have belonged to late Patrick Rotimi, who was robbed and shot by this gang on July 10, 2018 at location road, Elekahia. He later died on his way to the hospital and also collected the sum of N1 million from him before he was shot.
‘The robbers who are based in the state are responsible for several car snatching operations in the state. They are still helping us with investigation and will be due in court as soon as investigations are concluded .
‘We have sworn to deal with all criminal elements in the state and at the appropriate time, we shall fish them out.’
