Flood Submerge 300 Communities In Rivers State

The flood rampaging Orashi region of Rivers State has sacked more than 300 communities. Orashi region comprises of Abua/Odual/ Ahoada East/ Ahoada West and Ogba / Egbema /Ndoni local government areas. The most affected parts are Igbuduga, Ubei and the entire Engeni clans in Ahoada West LGA. Some of the communities can only be reached with canoe. A visit to the area showed that the areas with the biggest hit are the headquarters of the council the the magistrate court at Akinima. Some members of the affected communities who spoke to our reporter, said they are yet to recover from the 2012 flood experience hence, called on relevant authorities to come to their aid by supporting them. Counting their loss, Mr. Peter Alali said their farm crops, worship centers have been destroyed and their businesses stalled.
