Edison Ehie resigns as Speaker, Member of RSHA

Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Rt Hon (Barr) Ehie, Ogerenye Edison- Ph.D, DSSRS, has resigned.

A letter dated December 29, and sighted online by Africa Update, disclosed that Ehie had resigned as Speaker and Member of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.

His resignation is coming days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intervened in the political quagmire in Rivers State.

Political analysts and keen followers of the ongoing political impasse did not anticipate that Ehie, who is at the forefront of those in support of the State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, would resign at the point a truce was being brokered.

In the letter, the former Speaker expressed gratitude to his constituents for the opportunity to serve but did not reveal any reason for his decision to quit the House. Below is a copy of the letter:
