The Council Chairman in a statement issued on Friday, stated that the governor had once again demonstrated his love for the Kalabari people, by undertaking the rehabilitation of the failed Federal Road, which had been in limbo and a deathtrap to the people of the area.

He said the road, which is the only access road to the three Kalabari speaking LGAs, had been a nightmare and great source of concern to commuters, who ply that road, describing the governor’s intervention as a timely and welcomed development.

The DELGA helmsman called on the people of the area to cooperate with the contractor handling the project, in order for it to be delivered in record time, as the governor had already released the full sum for the project.

It would be recalled that following the deplorable state of the Emohua-Kalabari Road, kidnapping and other criminal activities had been on the increase, leaving travellers in palpable fear.

The development led the Council Chairmen of Degema; Hon. Michael John Williams, Emohua; Dr. Chidi Lloyd, Asari-Toru; Hon. Onengiyeofori and Akuku-Toru; Hon. Rowland Sekibo to swing into action by clearing the shoulders of the road for visibility, filling up the potholes as well as collaborating with the Rivers State Police Command for adequate deployment of security personnel to man the road, which has curtailed criminal activities on the road in the recent time.
