Gunmen have killed about 50 persons in an attack on a church during Sunday morning service, Africa Update has learnt. Sources disclosed that the gunmen suspected to be bandits, stormed the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State with sophisticated riffles.
Apart from worshippers, some passerbys were hit by stray bullets.Witnesses said the gunmen stormed the church during service and started shooting sporadically.Explosives were also detonated by the gunmen inside the premises of the church.It was gathered that victims including those fatally shot, were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Owo and private hospitals for medical attention.
