Wike Bags DAAR Man of The Year Award

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has been conferred Man of the Year by DAAR communications.

The award was presented to the governor at the fourth DAAR Awards ceremony which marked the 25th anniversary of Africa Independent Television (AIT) in Abuja on Monday.

Presenting the award to the Governor, Chairman of the event, Sir Steve Omojafor commended him for the transformational leadership he has exhibited in Rivers State.

Omojafor noted that Wike has made significant progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and sports.

He urged other politicians to emulate Governor Wike’s model in order to accelerate development in the country.

“If other governors’ carryout their responsibilities like Governor Wike, Nigeria will be a better place for all”

Omojafor described the award conferred on Governor Wike as well deserved and commended DAAR Communications PLC for recognizing his excellence.

Receiving the award on behalf of Governor Wike, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banogo thanked the organisers for the recognition which will spur the governor to do more.

She noted that the governor in his second tenure is delivering more people-oriented projects as part of his of his promise to leave a lasting legacy in the state.

Banigo stated that the governor’s determination to challenge the status quo is to promote the rule of law and deepen democracy in the country.

She described Rivers State as the safest place to invest and do business in the country and invited investors to take advantage of the situation.

The Deputy Governor dedicated the award to God and the people of Rivers State for re-electing the governor due to his visionary leadership.

Similarly, the World Trade Organization Director General, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala also received the Woman of the Year awards.

Also, Outstanding Leadership in Public Service in Citizens Welfare, Peace and Security and Education went to the governors of Osun, Borno and Delta States respectively.
