Prophetess who gave her client deadly ‘love charm’ dies in prison custody two days after conviction

Edina Lovely-Worleru, the prophetess who was sentenced to life imprisonment has died in prison custody. Lovely-Worleru was convicted by a Rivers state High Court Sitting in Port Harcourt on Thursday September 16, 2021 but died on Saturday September 18.


Lovely Worleru was arrested following allegations that she had given a substance which was supposed to be “love charm” to her client identified as Onyema Bright -Worlu. The substance was added as instructed by the Prophetess, but Worlu’s lover, Israel Georgewill, purportedly died after consuming the meal.

Before her sudden death, the prophetess was with a spiritual Church in Rumuche community in Emohua Local Government Area. The state prosecution council , Chidi Ekeh, speaking on the development, said the remains of Late Edina Lovely Worleru, will not be released to her family because she is the property of the federal government. Her client, Bright -Worlu is however still serving life sentence.
