The Independent Newspaper Publishers Association of Rivers State (RIVPA), has called on all political parties in Rivers State, to be peaceful while conducting their primary elections in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday 22nd, may 2022 and signed by the chairman, Prince Mike Iwezor and the General Secretary, Mr Augustine Tanee, the Publishers’ Association noted that there have been crisis in some of the political parties in the state, which is a pointer to what the primary elections may look like in some of the political parties in the state.
RIVPA, in the statement advised journalists covering primary elections in the state to be professional.
RIVPA, also urged security agencies in Rivers State to protect journalists while discharging their duties in the state.
RIVPA in the statement recalled that at the last general election, some journalists were attacked and injured, while some journalists lost their valuables including their vehicles in the state without any compensation.
