Militants blow up Chevron’s gas pipeline again

The new militant group, Niger Delta Avengers have wreaked havoc on the main gas pipeline, which provides electricity to the Escravos tank farm in Delta state, yesterday.
The militant group, according to a tweet published on their Twitter handle, @NDAvengers, had blown up the gas pipeline, because Chevron refused to obey their warning which forbade them from repairing a major crude pipeline that was blown up early this month.
The group had attacked Chevron’s Okan Offshore facility in Western Niger Delta Region on May 4, 2016.
The militants however, claim that they are fighting for an end to pollution, greater share of oil profits and independence for the southern region, and have warned oil firms to leave the Delta region before the end of the month.
