Ahead of the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses of the All Progressives Congress, APC, some political leaders have called for mass mobilization and participation in the Ward Congress scheduled to hold Tuesday, September 17, 2019.
This call is coming few days after a crucial stakeholders meeting between the Minister of Transportation and leader of the APC in Rivers State and South South, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and some leaders across the 23 LGAs, at his residence in Port Harcourt.
The Minister had charged party faithfuls to ensure an all inclusive party Congresses, and admonished those interested in any elective position at the Ward, LGA and State levels to purchase forms and not accuse anyone of disenfranchising them.
The party leader, however, warned that there was zero tolerance for those who are bent on destroying the party, insisting that those who are not ready to adhere to the directives of the National Working Committee, are free to leave the party.
He expressed gratitude to those who believe in his leadership, despite attempts to undermine the party in the state and urged them not to be distracted by those who may have other motives.
In a related development, Hon. Dr. Sokonte Davies has expressed dismay at media reports in Port Harcourt, that have quoted Rt. Hon. Amaechi out of context where was quoted as referring to adhere to his leadership and his admirers within and outside the Party as belonging to his camp.
Stressing that what the Minister said was that Rivers APC, having experienced the negative effects of factions and so-called “camps” that caused the Party’s non-participation in the general elections of last year would no longer have anything to do with factions or camps in the State chapter of the Party.
