The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has dissociated itself from the Caretaker Committee (CTC )illegally constituted by Chris Iziguzo, the embattled national president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
The chairman, NUJ ,Rivers State Council, Stanley Job Stanley in a chat said the illegal team was resisted by journalist’s in the State when they came into the State press centre to execute their planned illegality.
He,therefore, enjoined the public to disregard any information making the rounds that Caretaker Committee members have been inaugurated.
The Rivers State NUJ chairman alleged that some members of the union hired and brought thugs into the press centre.
Nevertheless, Stanley had implored the national executive council of the NUJ to fix a date for the election, hinting that, journalists of the Rivers State council are ready for the exercise.
It was ,however, observed that a detachment of armed policemen chased the hoodlums away and took control of the NUJ premises.
