Hull city sacks Coach Phelan

Hull City said they have parted ways with head coach Mike Phelan.

The 54 year old former Manchester United midfielder and one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s right hands as assistant at Old Trafford took over the role following the departure of Steve Bruce over the summer.

With a bright start to his caretaker life, his eventual appointment for the campaign came in October but with just 13 points returned from 20 games and Hull sitting in the relegation zone at the bottom of the table, the club announced the parting of the ways.

The club first broke the news on Twitter.

But about 30 minutes after issued a statement that made no mention of Phelan’s replacement.

“The Club can announce this evening that it has parted company with Head Coach Mike Phelan.

“We would like to thank Mike for his efforts both as Assistant Manager and Head Coach over the last two years.

“The search for a replacement has begun and an announcement will be made in due course.”
