Rivers State Govt stops planned strike through the court

Plans by the organized labour to embark on an indefinite strike action from midnight today, may suffer some setback.

The National Industrial Court in Port Harcourt, has granted an order of interim injunction, against organised labour from embarking on strike today or any other day or days, after pending hearing and determination of a suit filled by the Attorney General of Rivers State.

The Court also granted the interim injunction restraining the Chairperson of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Beatrice Itubo, the chairman of Trade Union Congress, TUC, Austin Jonah, the chairman of the joint negotiating council, Mathew Olada, Prince Ndukwe,Opuwari Agada from disrupting or interfering in the activities or services of the civil servants in the state, pending hearing and determination of the substantive motion on notice filed in the suit.
