Fubara calls on GDI to intensify PVC awareness as exercise draws to a close

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dropped the hint that the ongoing registration for permanent voters card (PVC), will come to an end on July 31, 2022, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has called on the Grassroots Development Initiative, (GDI) to intensify efforts in mobilising more people to be registered before the end of the exercise.

Fubara made the call on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Obio/Akpor local government area venue of the GDI PVC sensitisation rally.

He said the evangelism should be to encourage everyone residing in the State including those with opposing political leaning who may become our friends tomorrow.

The gubernatorial candidate commended Obio/Akpor and leaders in the LGA for always taking the lead in every electioneering in the state.

Welcoming the governorship candidate and his running mate to the LGA, the Chairman of the Local Council, Hon. George Ariolu, noted that it has become necessary to continue the voters’ education to enable the LGA retain its position of having the highest number of registered voters in any local government council in the Niger Delta.

Speaking also, the President General of GDI, Chief Bright Amewhule used the occasion to call on INEC to investigate the alleged discovery of buried PVCs in a politician’s compound in the LGA and ensure that the outcome is made public.

Other speakers which include, Amb. Desmond Akawor, Hon. O. K. Chinda, Hon. Chidi Lloyd,amongst others harped on sustained sensitisation and mobilisation to ensure that the people do not only register but also collect their PVCs as part of their civic responsibility.
