The news making the round on social media of a letter of appreciation written by Gov. Nyesom Wike to President Buhari on the latter’s approval of the sum of N78,953,067,518.29 for the federal roads construction which was majorly done by the past administration of the former governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, is belated, mischievous and of double standard.
The said approval was done by President Buhari since the beginning of June and why did the governor waited until the end of June to appreciate and commend the federal government led by President Buhari. What a show of shame. Gov. Wike also thanked other Excos members of the federal government for making it possible for the approval. I consider this as mischievous and of double standard because the same Gov. Wike was an Exco member of the federal government led by President Goodluck Jonathan when the initial application for refund was made by the administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi that constructed those roads and he vehemently opposed it.
This was part of the many problems that made the former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to leave PDP for APC. How can he now appreciate President Buhari for a refund? What an irony! Gov. Wike in his mischievous and double standard appreciation letter to President Buhari, refused to tell Rivers people whether he has received the money or the letter is serving as reminder that the said approval have not been acted upon despite President Buhari’s directive.
No wonder the much use of *”Thank You Our Dear President”*. Gov. Wike also in his mischievous and double standard appreciation letter to President Buhari, commended him for the show of love to Rivers people. I was dumbfounded, astounded and perplexed on when did this show of love from President Buhari to Rivers people started, because even a day before the approval, Gov. Wike was almost on all the media airwaves castigating and birating the President for abandoning Rivers State without any project and sign of federal government presents, despite the fact that Rivers State is producing high level of the economic base of the Federation.
I am now tempted to ask ‘Will the refund serve as project executed by the federal government led by President Buhari’?. Only God knows. Gov. Wike further requested for a state visit in his mischievous and double standard appreciation letter. This is indeed laughable according to one of my friends called Ebere Umetor from Rundele in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State. Gov. Wike can not claim to have forgotten so soon how President Buhari was stoned in Rivers State by those loyal to him in PDP because he was contesting against then President Jonathan when he visited Rivers State during the administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. Will President Buhari not be stone again if he decide to visit Rivers State? It is obvious, that Gov Wike has been playing to the gallery and pandering in racial prejudice without been fare and honest to Rivers people which he is their Governor.
