Rivers Governorship: Nyesom Wike’s boast has been dispelled ~ David Okumgba

Contrary to widespread propaganda and speculations about the removal of the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tonye Cole, the South South APC Zonal Secretary, David Okumgba, has reassured Non-Governmental Organizations, NGOs, collaborating with the party that APC is set for victory in Rivers State.

At a major meeting with leaders of over 40 NGOs mobilizing support for the party in the State, Okumgba said at the Zonal Secretariat on December 17, that the boast by the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, that the party does not exist in the State has been dispelled by his agitation and attempt to use the court to disqualify the APC Governorship candidate and also truncate the activities of the party.

Stressing that there are no fears about the outcome of pending court cases, as he, Okumgba, is confident of the ability of the courts to stand by the truth, despite attempts by disgruntled individuals to influence the process.
He urged NGOs not to be distracted by the antics of Wike but focus on the task ahead and work assiduously towards ousting Wike at the polls in 2019.

Noting that the era when thugs were used by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to intimidate members of APC across the State is over. Stating that the days of impunity are over, just as efforts by Wike to introduce thugs under the guise of neighborhood watch has failed, every other malicious trick will fail.

Reiterating that the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, has not published a new list excluding Cole, which proves that he is the authentic governorship candidate of the party
Okumgba further urged leaders of NGOs to continue their support for the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, who has stood firm in his support for President Muhammadu Buhari, in the face of several tribulations.
As a show of appreciation for all the efforts made by NGOs in mobilizing over 4,000 new members in two weeks, Okumgba announced an end of year party to enable leaders of the various NGOs bond with the Minster of Transportation, Amaechi and the APC governorship Candidate, Cole.
