Rivers Election Tribunal to commence pre-trial March 15

The Election Petition Tribunal for the Rivers State December 10 rerun election,  is set to hold its inaugural sitting in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory,  on March 15.

According to our source, the Tribunal will hold a pre-trial conference on March 15 and will look at the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Rivers East Senatorial District,  Chief Andrew Uchendu challenging the re-election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate,  Senator George Sekibo.

Africa Update further gathered that the Tribunal fixed March 21, for pre- trial conference on the petition filed by the PDP candidate for Ikwerre/Emuoha Federal Constituency,  Hon. Boniface Emerengwa, challenging the election of the APC candidate,  Chief Chidi Nwiyorka.

The tribunal is also set to commence pre-trial conference on the petition filed by the PDP candidate for Tai/ Eleme/ Oyigbo Federal Constituency,  Hon. Jacobson Mbina,  challenging the re-election of APC candidate, Hon. Barry Mpigi on the same day.
