The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed the G-100 initiative, a coalition of 100 opposition stalwarts seeking to establish an all-opposition political platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The PDP said its decision to participate in the process was driven by what it described as the hardship being experienced by Nigerians under the Bola Tinubu-led APC Federal Government and the need for opposition political forces to unite in pursuit of what it called the country’s redemption.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Interim National Working Committee, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the PDP said it had resolved to work with other credible political forces committed to addressing the challenges confronting the country.

The party said its participation in the G-100 process was anchored on the expectation that the proposed opposition platform would be guided by transparency, equality, data-driven decision-making and egalitarian principles.

The PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, said the party believed that a process based on such principles could produce credible leadership capable of addressing the country’s economic and security challenges.

“Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on the philosophical underpinnings of transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism,” Turaki said.

He added that any outcome produced through such a process would, in the party’s view, provide Nigerians with credible leadership capable of tackling rising poverty and insecurity.

The PDP said the latest development was consistent with its previously declared position of collaborating with like-minded political parties and organisations seeking to remove what it described as the “many vices” associated with the APC-led administration.

The party further disclosed that it participated in the inaugural meeting of the G-100 on August 31, 2026, describing its involvement as an indication of its readiness to contribute to the formation of a broad opposition platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to the PDP, the proposed alliance is intended to unite opposition forces with the objective of defeating the APC at the polls and subsequently rebuilding the country for the benefit of Nigerians.

The development marks a significant step towards efforts by opposition parties and political groups to explore greater collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections, amid growing calls for a united platform to challenge the ruling party.
