Magnus Abe finally reacts (Pictures)

Senator Magnus Abe, representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, finally speaks.

In a post he shared on his Facebook page, Abe said, ‘I have restrained myself from joining issues with members of our party unnecessarily. All this acrimony will not help the party and it deflects from the main issues. But just to set the records straight I have always expressed appreciation to the Hon minister of transportation for his support to all of us in the 2015 elections including the court process.

‘All of us who took part in the process will recollect the many contributions made by others including myself. I have refrained from talking about all these so as not to give the impression that I am in any way unappreciative of the contributions of others.

‘The logistics challenges and others were enormous but we came together as one family and shouldered it all. Who paid all the hotel bills for the lawyers in Port-Harcourt.?. Yes the bills for the lead counsel was paid by the minister but all other lawyers were paid for by myself and the members of the House of Representatives.

‘I am still receiving demands from some the lawyers for outstanding legal bills which we are still paying on behalf of the party including some of those who are today on the “other side”. I have never gone on National television to talk about it. Lastly, after the 2014 primaries I was given the privilege by the party to nominate a DG for the Dakuku campaign and I nominated Victor Giadom.

‘He was not at the meeting when I nominated him and I could have nominated anyone else if I so wished, The expectation was that the DG coming from me will work to close the Gaps in the party. How well that worked is left for the public to Judge. It should be clear that taking a position I gave to you can not be a source of disagreement with me.

‘There must be another reason.. Attached here is a recent demand notice from one of our lawyers at the tribunal which I am still dealing with. Let elders behave like elders, let us tone down the mudslinging and focus on how we can save the party’.
