Governor Fubara makes fresh appointments

His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has formally sworn in five newly appointed Special Advisers, signalising a resolute phase of administrative consolidation for Rivers State. During a dignified ceremony held on Friday at Government House, the Governor underscored his administration’s unwavering determination to overcome recent challenges and expedite the delivery of its mandate to the citizenry.

In an address marked by both gravity and optimism, Governor Fubara asserted that his government possesses the requisite resilience to navigate the complexities of the current political landscape. The appointments, he noted, are not merely symbolic but are strategic manoeuvres designed to “strengthen governance” and ensure the “seamless operation” of the state’s executive functions.

The Governor emphasised that the choice of the five aides was predicated on their existing familiarity with the machinery of government. By appointing veterans of public service, the administration aims to bypass the traditional “learning curve,” ensuring that performance monitoring and the pursuit of state objectives remain uninterrupted.

Addressing the appointees directly, Governor Fubara issued a stern reminder regarding the weight of their new responsibilities. He cautioned that these roles should be regarded not as positions of personal comfort or prestige, but as a “sacred call to dedicated service.”

“You have previously distinguished yourselves in public office,” the Governor remarked, expressing his confidence that such excellence would be replicated in their current stations. He further enjoined them to honour the social contract between the state and its people: “Do not disappoint the government or the people of Rivers State as you begin the vital work of fulfilling our promises to the citizens.”
