A Federal High Court sitting in Owerri has dismissed suit challenging the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Amb. Desmond Akawor as the Chairman of the Party. The court in its ruling delivered today 19th February 2021, held that the court lacked Jurisdiction to entertain the suit no: FHC/OW/CS/112/2020, brought before it against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rivers State, as the complaints of the Plaintiffs were within the domestic affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party (internal affairs of PDP) outside the Jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.

Consequently the suit is not competent and should accordingly be struck out or dismissed. Some stakeholders who spoke with Africa Update, said this development is a huge relief for the party, ahead of the commencement of political activities for the local government elections in the state.
