APC Unveils Comprehensive Timetable, Fee Structure for 2027 General Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally released its timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 General Election. The announcement, contained in a statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, signals the commencement of the governing party’s internal electoral processes.

The schedule, ratified by the National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Argungu, provides a definitive framework for the nomination of candidates, encompassing the sale of forms, screening exercises, and the conduct of primary elections across all elective offices.

The party has outlined the financial requirements for aspirants seeking its ticket. The costs for both the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms are as follows:

In a bid to encourage inclusivity, the APC has introduced a concessionary fee structure for specific demographics. Female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) are required to pay only the full cost of the Expression of Interest form, while receiving a 50 per cent discount on the Nomination fees.

Key Electoral Timelines

The official notice of election was dispatched to state chapters on 20 April 2026, marking the opening of the electoral calendar.

  • Sales of Forms: Scheduled to run from 25 April to 2 May 2026.
  • Submission Deadline: All completed forms and supporting documentation must be submitted by 4 May 2026.
  • Screening of Aspirants: Screening for legislative and governorship aspirants will occur between 6 May and 8 May, while presidential aspirants will be screened on 9 May.
  • Publication of Results: Results of the screening exercise will be made public on 11 May.

Primary Elections and Appeals

The party has established a robust mechanism for dispute resolution, with appeals arising from the screening process set for 12–13 May. The primary elections are scheduled to proceed as follows:

  • Presidential Primaries: 15–16 May
  • House of Representatives: 18 May
  • Senate: 20 May
  • State House of Assembly: 21 May
  • Governorship Primaries: 23 May

Final appeals regarding the outcome of the primaries will be heard between 18 May (for the presidency) and 25 May (for all other offices).

Mr Morka reaffirmed the APC’s resolve to host a transparent and credible primary process. He stated that the outlined schedule reflects the party’s dedication to strengthening its internal democracy and ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants, thereby consolidating its progressive ideals ahead of the general polls.
