The South South Zonal Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, says the unholy pact between the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, his cohorts and INEC , to subvert the will of the electorate will eventually fail.
A Press Statement released in Port Harcourt, the State capital reads: “The defection of the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Mr. Akpo Bomba Yeeh, should not come as a surprise to all lovers of truth.
“It is unfortunate that a man who hitherto had lived in political Obscurity, who but by the Hand of God and the support of our Leader Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi climbed to popularity overnight has by that same popularity betrayed those who stood loyally behind him.
“As the good book says , “They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us”.1 John 2:19 (New International Version)
“It is worrisome that the Rivers State Government led by Nyesom Wike, has embarked on this frivolous financial rascality at the detriment of pensioners and tax paying citizens, whose desires for infrastructural development have been sacrificed on the altar of political horse trading.
“More worrisome is the fact that Rivers State resources have been squandered by the PDP led state government, in an attempt to buy off everyone in a bid to remain in office, at all cost.
“I want to appeal to all lovers of truth and democracy to remain steadfast and prayerful, believing that God will expose the unholy alliance between Wike and the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Obo Effanga, which has led to the political quagmire in the state .
“We believe that justice will prevail and every attempt by Wike, his cohorts and INEC Rivers state, to subvert the will of the electorate will fail.
“Rivers people have spoken and their voices were very loud through the votes they gave to AAC at the polls during the March 9, Governorship election.
“Rivers people will resist every attempt to further plunge the state into financial crisis.
“I am therefore calling on the people of Rivers State not to be cajoled by the antics of Wike, because his ouster from office is very certain and he knows this fact”, he noted.
