Edo Queens comfortably booked their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 President Federation Cup following an assured 3-1 victory over Ghetto Tigers Queens at the Ondo Sports Complex in Akure.

The Benin City side maintained their superb run of form, asserting dominance early in the encounter. Chioma Moses opened the scoring in the ninth minute, before Esther Inyang doubled the advantage in the 27th minute to give the Queens a commanding first-half lead.

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership leading goalscorer, Atume Doosuur, put the result beyond doubt in the 58th minute by netting her side’s third. Although Ghetto Tigers managed to pull a goal back from the penalty spot late in the match, Edo Queens held firm to advance.

The victory keeps alive Edo Queens’ ambitions of securing a historic, first-ever President Federation Cup title. It also provides an ideal competitive boost ahead of the upcoming NWFL Super Six playoffs.

While Edo Queens impressed in Akure, several other tournament heavyweights delivered utterly ruthless performances across the country, making the Round of 32 a remarkably high-scoring affair.

The most emphatic display of the day belonged to Rivers Angels, who demolished NAF Women 12-0 in a clinical exhibition of attacking football. Not far behind were Heartland Queens, who recorded one of the largest margins of the round by hammering Dragon Fury 6-0.

Meanwhile, Delta Queens cruised to a comfortable 5-0 victory against Royal Queens, and Naija Ratels triumphed 5-2 over Mighty Jets Mata in an entertaining, seven-goal thriller.

In contrast to the afternoon’s lopsided scorelines, FC Robo Queens edged out Rangers Women 3-2 in one of the most competitive fixtures of the round. Mariam Yahaya proved instrumental for the Lagos-based side, netting twice alongside a crucial strike from Tayo Ajakaye.

Former champions Bayelsa Queens had to endure a far more tense affair, securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Pacesetters Queens courtesy of a 47th-minute strike from Kesiena Ojiyovwi. Elsewhere, Ibom Angels progressed with minimal fuss, defeating Fortress Ladies 2-0 thanks to first-half goals from Kelechi Chukwunlem and Happiness Agboye.
