Rivers NUJ Embark On peaceful Walk

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, Rivers state chapter will today, August 30, embark on a peaceful walk following directives from the NUJ national secretary, Shauibu Leman.

The Rivers state NUJ secretary, Ikechukwu Wigodo in a statement, said the peaceful walk is aimed at expressing displeasure and disapproval over incessant attacks on journalists and media organizations in the country.

In the same light, a civil society organization in Rivers state has shown their support and commended the NUJ for embarking on a peaceful walk. The state chairman of the civil society organization in Rivers State, Enefa Georgewill said those in Port Harcourt are calling on the government to drop all charges against journalists everywhere in the country.

All state and FCT councils of the union are expected to participate in this national peaceful protest in their respective press centers and in other to ensure proper coordination and syndicating reports of the match across the country, the NUJ has advised that the following hashtags should be used, #EnoughIsEnough, #JournalismIsNotACrime, #PhotographyIsNotACrime, #SafetyOfJournalistsNotNegotiable.
