Violence erupts as news of Senator Adeleke’s death breaks

A  three-term Senator currently representing Osun West Senatorial district and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Isiaka Adeleke is dead.

Senator Adeleke died today at Bikets Hospital in Oshogbo the Osun state capital after suffering a heart attack according to family sources.

Meanwhile,  there is confusion in Ede, the home town of Isiaka Adeleke, as his supporters are alleging that he may have been poisoned.

The supporters attacked journalists and went on rampage to express their anger. Burial rites earlier scheduled had to be postponed and his corpse was returned to the Ladoke Akontola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, for an autopsy.

The autopsy option, sources say, is being taken following rumours that he was poisoned at a political meeting on Saturday.

According to an associate,  Adeleke was preparing to contest for the Osun governorship election in 2018 before his death.

He was earlier brought home from the hospital amidst wailing and weeping by supporters and family members.

He died aged 62.
