‘The Dog Barks Only at the Unknown’: Governor Fubara Rebukes Critics with Stoic Resolve

In a display of calculated poise, the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged his supporters to maintain their composure amidst the intensifying political skirmishes currently defining the state’s landscape.

Speaking on Thursday at the prestigious New Year banquet held at the Government House, Governor Fubara addressed the burgeoning rift with his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, by employing a striking metaphor regarding the nature of loyalty and comprehension.

Addressing the anxieties of his political base, the Governor suggested that the vocal opposition he currently faces is born of confusion rather than strength.

“Do not be disturbed by these occurrences,” the Governor stated with quiet authority. “Caesar once observed that the only reason the dog barks is when it does not understand. If you have a dog in your house and it knows you, it has no need to bark. Thus, when the dog begins to bark, it is perhaps because it is witnessing something beyond its comprehension.”

He continued by contrasting this noise with his administration’s deliberate strategy: “We are not barking because we understand. We know our destination, and we have established the necessary foundations to ensure the journey ahead remains smooth.”

The Governor’s remarks serve as a direct counter-narrative to recent assertions made by Chief Nyesom Wike. The Minister lately claimed that the “leadership mistake” in Rivers State would be “corrected” during the 2027 electoral cycle.

Unfazed by these declarations, Governor Fubara assured his assembly that the requisite preparations are already in place to secure his mandate for a second term. By framing the opposition’s rhetoric as the “barking” of those who no longer recognize the “house” of Rivers State politics, the Governor has signaled a shift toward a more independent and resolute executive stance.

As the state navigates this season of political realignment, Fubara’s message remains one of unwavering focus, suggesting that while his critics may choose to bark, his administration intends to lead in silence.
