Rivers State now has a new Governor, who will oversee the affairs of the State for a four year term. The historic event took place at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, in Port Harcourt Court the State capital despite the downpour this morning.
Siminalayi Fubara took over leadership from Nyesom Wike to become the fourth democratically elected Governor, since the commencement of the new Democratic era in 1999.
Some Women, men and youths were seen shedding tears as the former Governor walked to his vehicle after performing the handover ceremony, escorted by his predecessor and other stakeholders.
Indeed history was made today, as this is the first time a Governor has handed over to a successor since 1999.
