Rivers: 8,000 persons cry out, as court order renders them homeless

8,000 persons have been evicted from their homes at Obidiansho waterfront in mile 2 Diobu area of Rivers State, following a court order.

Cross section of residents who spoke with Africa Update, alleged that they were forcefully sent out of their homes by security agents and lamented that properties were unaccounted for while some of their children are now missing.

They said if nothing is urgently done to alleviate their plight, their could be fatalities as they are left homeless.

A government source, who spoke on the development said, though there are no official complaints about the court order which has rendered these citizens homeless,the state government is worried that such action could lead to urban crisis.

Africa Update gathered that a court had issued an order in favor of Ogosu family to evict these persons after a legal battle over the ownership of the said waterfront.
