Rights to Women’s Inheritance: NCWS Lauds Governor Wike For Assenting Law

The National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) Rivers State Branch has lauded the Governor of Rivers State, Bar. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for signing into law the right of women to share in the family property as passed by the State Legislature.

The Law which is called “The Rivers State Prohibition of The Curtailment of Women’s Right to Share in Family Property Law No. 2 of 2022” as its title was assented to alongside two other laws, “Rivers State Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Law No. 3 of 2022”, and “The Rivers State Pension Reform (amendment) Law No. 4 of 2022”.

A press statement signed by the NCWS President Rivers State Branch, Princess Jetiba Soberekon, appreciated Governor Wike for highlighting the importance of the law to the development of the State, as it enpowers Rivers women to actualize their God given potentials.

NCWS further maintained that the law presents a new dawn in the state while thanking the Governor
for purposely creating enabling environment for women in the state to grow and occupy leadership positions.
