As search and rescue mission still continues in a bid to recover corpses of those still missing as a result of a boat mishap that occurred over the weekend in the creeks leading to Bakana community, in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, an advocacy group , The Mobilizers, has blamed the Nyesom Wike led government for betraying the riverine people.
The President of the group, Gloria Boma Harry, reiterated that Wike, who was recently nicknamed Mr Project, has failed to provide roads and other infrastructures needed by riverine communities that would transform them into modern cities, just as Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpo and Ikwerre local government areas.
She said, the unfortunate incident would have been averted if the trans Kalabari road was completed by the Wike led government .
While consoling families whose loved ones were snatched away by the cold hands of death, Harry, called on boat operators and relevant agencies to observe international best practises to prevent the reoccurrence of such sad and avoidable incident.
