Rivers State Assembly elects principal officers

The Rivers state house of Assembly has elected the new  principal officers of the 9th Assembly.
The former Majority leader of the house Martin Amehule who had a total of 29 votes was  reelected by nomination, by the lawmaker representing Asari-Toru constituency 2, Enemi George  and seconded by the lawmaker representing Asari-Toru constituency 1, George Ipalibo.

The lawmaker representing Khana constituency 1, Barieene Deeya was elected as the deputy Majority leader of the house.
 Lawmaker representing Ogu/bolo constituency ,Evans Bipi was also elected as the Chief Whip of the house , while the lawmaker representing Akuku-Toru constituency 1, Major Jack was elected as the deputy chief whip of the 9th assembly .

The speaker of the house , Ikunyi Owaji Ibani in his charge urged the elected principal officers of the 9th assembly to diligently work towards effective service delivery to enhance more development in the state.
According to our reporter Tamunotonte Abiye, the house was adjourned to Thursday 13th June for next sitting
