Niger Delta Youth Congress Gets New Exco, Elects Comrade Ogboka Umeda As President General

The Niger Delta Youth Congress NDYC Worldwide, the apex youth body in the Niger Delta region, has at its delegates’ conference in Warri, Delta State elected a new executive to pilot the affairs of the youth body for the next four years The new executive produced Comrade Ogboka Chris Umeda from Rivers State as President General and Dennis Millionaire from Delta State as General Secretary.

The Chairman of the electoral committee, deacon James Tubolayefa who announced the result after a keenly contested election on Saturday January 23, 2021 said Comrade Umeda scored seventy three votes to defeat his closest rival, Chile Dauglas who got forty votes Other members of the nine man Executives elected at the delegates conference included Charity Akpan as Vice President, Ruhuoma Ebete, Women Leader, Doctor Asukwo, Treasurer and Emmanuel McDonald, Organising Secretary Others are Blessed Banigo, Security Secretary, Andrew Jackson, Public Relations Officer and Duro Ajayi as Assistant General Secretary

Responding, the new President General of NDYC, Comrade Ogboka Chris Umeda thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed on them and promised that his administration will deliver on the electioneering campaign According to Comrade Umeda the new Executive of NDYC, haven been sworn into office with a four year mandate, shall rewrite the narrative and ensure that the youths of Niger Delta region are empowered and equipped for self reliance so as to sustain peace and development in the region

The NDYC President General who expressed his dissatisfaction with the activities at the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, called on those saddled with the responsibilities of developing the Niger Delta region including the multinationals, to sit up or be given the red card by youths of the region On the issue of who occupies the number one seat at the presidency come 2023, the number one citizen of the Niger Delta Youth body maintained that the South South should be allowed to produce the next President after President Muhammadu Buhari to complete the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan who served for one term He also decried the growing cases of sea pirates and other criminality in the region blaming it on seeming neglect of the region and sued for peace among youths of the Niger Delta.
