An unidentified man in his twenties, was, on Friday, December 27, 2019 at about 9:10 am, arrested in Lagos for trying to hide in the wheelhouse of an Air Peace aircraft which was about leaving the Murtala Muhammed International Airport for Owerri, in Imo State.
The young man, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, was said to have emerged from the bush close to the runway at the airport and attempted to gain access to the wheel of the plane, which was already trying to take off.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of Air Peace, Stanley Olisa, said immediately the presence of the intruder was noticed, the pilot in charge of the plane was contacted.
According to him, the pilot of a private jet informed security personnel with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN ) who ensured the arrest of the man.
The man who was attempting to stowaway said he thought the Air Peace flight was heading overseas.
