Africa Update has stumbled on shocking information about the crux of the recent campaign against the Commander, Special Anti Robbery Squad, (SARS), Rivers State,  Akin Fakorode, who has been in the eye of the storm in recent months for his alleged role in aiding the opposition in the State, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in committing electoral fraud and other crimes.

A government source, who spoke on conditions of anonymity said, the Nyesom Wike led government has vowed to embark on anti SARS campaign with the view to draw public sympathy at the expense of citizens’ common wealth.

It was further revealed that so far, a whooping N150 million have been purportedly spent on government sponsored advertorials in National daily newspapers, with the bid to sway public opinion and portray SARS in very bad light.

Though efforts to confirm these claims proved abortive, recent front page publications in four national dailies at a cost of about N22 million to N30 million per publication, tend to confirm the claims of our source.

While the offence for which Fakorode seem to be persecuted, is based on a report, the source opined that this huge media war would negatively affect the fortunes of citizens, especially pensioners who have reportedly gone months on end without the payment of their pension.
