The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has said that the Commission would set up a management process that would enable the Commission carry out its operations effectively and more efficiently. He said this during the submission of Audit reports by external Auditor for 2016 Account at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.
Rev. Uja stressed the need for the government to build an accounting system that would be consistent and help in the better management of government funds. He explained that over the years the resources of this nation has been mismanaged and wasted. He therefore called on citizens to learn how to manage the resources of this nation.
The NCPC boss informed that the Commission has been able to reduce cost in its pilgrimage Operations especially in the areas of ground handling in Israel, cost of flight for pilgrims, reduction in travels, etc. He promised to reduce it further next year. He added that next year the Commission would draw up programmes that would yield revenue which would help it run its operations without stress.
He urged Federal Government to invest in infrastructure that would help boost the economy of our nation. In his words “the only way Nigeria can drift away depending on oil is by building infrastructures and programmes that would better the economy”.
Speaking earlier, the Chief External Auditor Mr. Damain Unogu told the ES that him and his team were in the Commission for the submission of the 2016 External Audit report. He affirmed that the members of his team has audited the Commission’s account for 2016 and had come to present a report on the work done.
