There seems to be no respite in sight for the embattled former chairman of Asari Toru Local Government Council and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Rivers State, Hon. Ojukaye Flag – Amachree, as fresh charges have been instituted against him by the state government.
The Rivers State government had dragged the former council boss before a High Court in Port Harcourt, presided over by Justice Iyayi Laminkara over five-count charge bordering on the alleged murder of one Iminabo Dokubo, attempted murder of Ipalibo Jackson and related issues .
After hearing the charges against Amachree , Justice Laminkara had issued a warrant for the Port Harcourt Prisons to produce the accused in court on July 4 to answer for the fresh charges.
This order was given following a letter from the prison authorities notifying the court about the poor health condition of Hon. Amachree.
The Appeal panel set up by the president of the court of appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa is expected to hear the bail application of the accused on same day, concerning a two count charge of conspiracy and murder of Smart Soberekon during the April 2015 elections.
